AKIHABARA - Japan's Anime Headquarters
Akihabara District in Tokyo, Japan is the world headquarters for Japanese anime, manga, comic books, video games, and electronics. -- Thankfully I had my Japanese friend Sabbaro there to help guide me around Akihabara or I would have been completely lost! --- Akihabara History Lesson: After WWII Akihabara was best known as a black market for electronic goods like radios and refrigerators which earned them the nickname “Electric Town” but fast forward to the 1980s when those same household electronics began to loose their futuristic appeal, so the shops shifted their focus towards home computers at a time when they were only used by specialists and hobbyists. This brought in a new customer - the computer nerd or OTAKU - and they ran with it! Years later Akihabara is THE hot spot in Tokyo for all things electronics, comic books, video games, and tech! --- SUBSCRIBE ► --- FOLLOW ME: + INSTAGRAM ► + FACEBOOK ► + TWITTER ► + SNAPCHAT ►@GarethChat + WEB ► --- MY TRAVEL VLOGGING GEAR: - MacBook Pro 15” → - LaCie Rugged External Hard Drive → - Sony a7ii → - Sony a7ii 24-70 Lens → - DJI Phantom 4 Drone → - GoPro Hero 4 → - KNEKT Underwater Dome → - Rode Shotgun Mic → - Manfrotto 60” Compact Action Tripod → - Joby Tripod → - Zoom H2n Handy Recorder → - Backup Batteries for Sony A7ii → - Backup Batteries for Sony RX100iv → --- P.S.
